Spring Into Science 2025
Science Outreach hosted our 3rd annual signature community outreach event, Spring Into Science 2025. Over 800 students engaged in hands-on science enrichment experiences and activities. The students in 4th through 10th grades came from our surrounding community and beyond (NJ, PA, DE, and NY). Angie Miller in the Department of Chemistry ran four live, explosive chemistry demonstrations. Kevin C. Hudson led a College Access workshop for high school students and their parents.
Spring Into Science was held in the Frick Chemistry Building and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. There were over 50 science exhibitions, two Escape the Cell rooms, a high-powered speedboat from the Office of Sustainability, and treats for students to enjoy. It was an incredible day of science for all the students in our community.

Swifty Science Event
Science Outreach, along with the Cotsen Children’s Library and the Department of Chemistry hosted a Taylor Swift “Swifty Science” outreach event for community students. The Science Outreach Fellows shared hands-on activities based on the lyrics of Taylor Swift songs. Science tables included making Oobleck dance on speakers to “Shake it Off”, a memory metal experiment to “All too Well”, a chemistry of pH levels to “Clean”, invisible ink chemical reactions to “Blank Space”, and a “Master Mind” chain reaction domino effect table.
Students then made their way to Taylor Auditorium for a 45-minute interactive live chemistry demonstration featuring more Swifty Science with Angie Miller (Lecture Demonstrator, Department of Chemistry). Swifty Science ended with a visit from a Taylor Swift look alike (Margo Mattes ’27). All students left with an ultraviolet friendship bracelet craft. It was a fun and exciting day of science that these students will not be able to “Shake Off”.
Science Outreach Annual Report 2022- 2024
The first Science Outreach Annual Report documents the impact of this newly created science initiative at our university and for K-12 students in our surrounding community and beyond. Science Outreach was created in 2022 to facilitate mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships between Princeton University Science educators and researchers on the one hand, and local K-12 school districts, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders on the other.
