Research Opportunity Number: (MAE-09)
Project Title: The 3D Audio and Applied Acoustics (3D3A) Lab
Project Summary: The 3D Audio and Applied Acoustics (3D3A) Lab (https://3d3a.princeton.edu) offers opportunities for students to be involved in state-of-the-art research on spatial audio. Some of the ongoing research projects are: 1) Personal Sound Zone (PSZ), which is a technology that aims to deliver, through loudspeakers, separate audio programs to separate people in the same space or room; 2) Beamforming for Advanced Hearing Aids, which aims at allowing the listener to clearly hear a source and isolate it from its background, by merely looking at the source; and 3) various 3D audio technologies for virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR).
Student Roles and Responsibilities: Assist in planning experiments, data acquisition and analysis using microphones, speakers, audio processors, and computers.
