Research Opportunity Number: (PHY-01)
Project Title: Biophysics: Custom Projects in Experiment and Computational Modeling
Project Summary Every year, my lab hosts a few students who would like to explore the intersection of physics and the life sciences. Past projects have included developing of a light-sheet capillary microscope, using deep-learning AI algorithms to recognize zebrafish, agent based modeling of collective behavior in proteins, exploring electrophoretic control of cell motion, building a raspberry pi based hyperspectral imager, soft robotics, and exploring droplet flow in a microchannel. Students may suggest their own project or work on one of the ongoing projects in my lab. Depending on project, coding and computer experience may be very helpful but not required. For non-coding projects, students will be expected to carry out research-level some design and fabrication.
Student Roles and Responsibilities: Regular in-person attendance in lab; collaborate with lab members on projects; regular maintenance of online lab notebook; final poster
Additional Considerations: At least 7 weeks of lab presence over summer; flexible start/end.
