Laboratory Learning Program 2024 - Imaging airflow (ECE-03)

Research Opportunity Number: ECE-03

Project Title: Imaging airflow

Project Summary: Stars twinkle because their light rays get deflected randomly through the atmosphere. In a kind of reverse engineering, we can use this flickering as a measure of air turbulence. Here, we will create a lab version, using a background of lights to image heat and air flow over different objects.

Student Roles and Responsibilities: The student(s) will design background patterns, take pictures and video, analyze the data, and work with computer simulation.

Additional Considerations: NONE
