Project Title: Electrified Non-Equilibrium Ammonia Synthesis (Electrical Heating or Plasma)

Project Summary: Green ammonia synthesis is important to reduce CO2 emissions and enable distributed chemical synthesis using renewable electricity. This project will use pulsed electrical heating or plasma discharge to conduct ammonia synthesis from N2 and H2 in a flow reactor. 

The chemical species in ammonia synthesis will be measured by using advanced laser diagnostics and gas chromatograph sampling. The work will be supervised by a research staff member.

Student Roles and Responsibilities: Experiment support and data analysis using physics, chemistry and computing and involving materials and equipment including N2 and H2, a flow reactor, Micro gas chromatograph and an IR laser.

Additional Considerations: This project should last six to eight weeks.
